A popular Staffordshire health and fitness club raised £90
for a local hospice by taking part in a charity open weekend to
celebrate its 2nd anniversary.
Gym and Tonic, based on the Newport Road in Stafford, held a
four day open weekend from July 1 to 4 to raise funds for Katharine
House Hospice, which is based in the town.
Gym and Tonic first opened on July 4 2009 and to celebrate the
milestone the gym was opened to non-members to come along and enjoy
the gym's facilities for a day.
People enjoyed access to the gym with its resistance and cardio
vascular equipment and use of the sauna room which was all
free.
However, visitors were asked to make a minimum donation of
£1 with all funds going to Katharine House Hospice.
Gym and Tonic has now adopted Katharine House Hospice as its
official charity and will donate all money to the hospice when it
takes part in future fundraising events.
Kate Boulton, gym manager, said the event had proved to be a
great success.
She said: "It was a fantastic weekend. We had lots of people
come into the gym and donate money
for Katharine House Hospice for use of the equipment for a day.
People got to enjoy everything that Gym and Tonic has to offer as
well as helping to raise money for such a worthy cause as Katharine
House Hospice at the same time. We are looking forward to handing
over a cheque for £90."
Visitors also snapped up the fantastic offer of a year's
membership for an incredible £199 during the open weekend. On
top of this they received a bottle of bubbly, T-shirt, a further
month free and half hour of free beauty treatment.
Membership at Gym and Tonic can work out as little as £18
per month.
