Midlands property company Hortons' Estate has signed a
multi-million pound deal with NVC (Manufacturing) Limited - China's
largest lighting manufacturer - to expand its successful operations
at Hollymoor Point, Rubery.
As part of the deal NVC have acquired the unit they currently
lease and have commissioned Hortons to build them a second unit.
This will to be used for both the production of light fittings and
specialised lighting fixtures for commercial and industrial use, as
well as for the warehousing and distributing of the
products.
Work on site has already commenced and it is anticipated the new
unit will be completed before the end of the year.
The Huizhou-based manufacturer set up its first UK base at
Hollymoor Point in 2009, and in the past two years the business has
seen rapid growth. The investment will allow NVC to store up to
11,000 pallets, double its current capacity, ready for distribution
across the UK/Europe and upon completion of the new building, will
see the company occupying a total of 91,000 sq ft at the Rubery
location.
"We have worked closely with NVC since they moved to the site,
and we are delighted that the relationship we have built up has
given them the confidence to use this location as part of their
ambitious plans for growth. We are looking forward to seeing the
unit complete now that construction has commenced," commented
Richard Norgrove, property director at Hortons.
"This is a further example of the opportunities that exist for
businesses in the Birmingham area to attract Chinese
investment".
The site in Birmingham's Great Park is well-located with
excellent access to the motorway networks, with junction 4 of the
M5 just three miles away and convenient links to the M42.
Birmingham city centre is a 20 minute drive away.
Richard adds: "We also have one remaining seven acre plot at
Hollymoor Point which can accommodate a single unit up to 90,000 sq
ft. Planning consent is already in place so work can start
immediately on site."
Garry Pass, General Manager at NVC (Manufacturing Ltd) UK said:
"As a company with the largest share of the Chinese lighting market
we are now poised for even greater international expansion.
"We recognise the opportunities offered by investing overseas in
the UK market and specifically the facilities and location offered
by Hollymoor Point that will enable us to grow our business across
the UK. Hortons have worked with us in our requirements and have
been flexible and commercial in their approach with a positive
attitude."

operations. With work having already started on site, we are
confident that the build will be complete by the end of the
year."
