Society
Mutual Building Society The Hanley, has joined the elite section
of Investors in People organisations with its accreditation to Gold
Status. They join a select group that make up only 0.88% or fewer
than 210 other accredited national companies.
The Investors in People Gold Award is achieved by organisations
that demonstrate a commitment to the learning and development of
their employees and to achieving best practice in people
management.
The team at The Hanley is determined to forge a successful,
distinctive and deserved reputation as a progressive, customer
focused organisation. It celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2004
and aims to combine the traditions and roots of a mature
organisation with the verve and efficiency of a modern business.
Robust team
The organisation is currently working with emb-x Ltd, the
Investors in People Centre responsible for covering Central
England. Sean Read, Director of EMB Excellence Ltd, (emb-x), the
leading enterprise and economic development company that delivers a
range of business improvement services, including Investors in
People across Central England comments that the Gold Award is well
deserved by The Hanley.
"Achieving this status reinforces the strength of the team and
the value the organisation places on its people. It is clear from
the Assessor's report that this is a robust organisation and that
people at all levels feel that the senior leadership team act as
role models for continuous learning and improvement through
effective coaching and mentoring."
David Webster, Chief Executive of The Hanley says, "I am
immensely proud to be part of a business that has been recognised
as one of the very best. The credit for this goes to our wonderful
people who work here, the most talented and tenacious group that
I've ever had the pleasure to work alongside. My colleagues and I
at The Hanley could never be accused of letting down our members.
In a way, it is simple to unite 60 staff behind an intention to
deliver outstanding performance and customer service."
Customer first
Human Resources Manager, Cris Hammond added, "This is a great
way of recognising our customer service, team work, involvement and
excellence that is inherent within the mission and values of The
Hanley. Our challenge now is to continue further improving our
organisation as a great place to work."
During the latest Investors in People review, the Assessor
highlighted a number of strengths that had continued to grow since
the last review. These included customer service, excellence,
consultation, involvement, team work, integrity, respect and trust
being inherent within the mission and values of The Hanley.
The Hanley's Gold Award follows the organisation's announcement
of being awarded 'Highly Commended' in the Customer Service
Excellence category of the Midlands Excellence awards and also
being finalists in The Sentinel Business awards.
