A Gloucestershire recruitment agency has secured 10 clients in
its first month of business.
Recruiters at gap personnel's newest branch, at Waterwells
Business Park in Quedgeley, near Gloucester, placed their first
worker within 24 hours of opening.
That promising start turned into a hot streak and the fledgling
team has continued to win new contracts at an impressive rate.
An industrial recruitment specialist, gap will be supplying van
drivers and sorters to Parcelforce and delivery firm DPD.
Dozens of operatives are being supplied to a Gloucestershire
manufacturer each week, and a food production company in
Herefordshire is set to put pen to paper on a deal that could see
60 workers being provided every day.
gap's client portfolio also includes a removals company and
several other manufacturing firms.
Regional director Richard Thorne said: "We were delighted to
place our first worker within 24 hours of opening our doors, and
since then the phone has hardly stopped ringing.
"We're encouraged by the start we have made and it is a pleasure
to be working with some fantastic local employers.
"The business environment here is buoyant and there is lots
going on. With our local knowledge and contacts, it is all very
positive.
"However, it is a tough market out there and we are fully aware
we will need to stay one step ahead of the competition in order to
continue to thrive."
With a total brand turnover of more than £60m, gap
personnel is the UK's eight largest industrial labour provider and
one of the country's fastest growing independent recruitment
agencies.
It already has successful regional operations in the north west,
midlands, Wales, Yorkshire and the south west.
gap has identified Gloucestershire and the M5 corridor as its
next key growth region, hiring Richard from a rival Gloucester
agency to grow the operation from scratch.
The 35-year-old, of Cheltenham, has recruited apprentice
administrator/resourcer Jessica Brown and senior consultant Gavin
Greenwold.
Gavin has joined gap from a rival recruitment company in
Gloucester.
Richard now plans to recruit another consultant and a branch
manager. In total, he expects to hire 25 staff in the area and open
two further branches over the next year.
