Leading Midland property specialist Stoford are continuing to regenerate the West Bromwich area with a £2.2 million brand new food store for Midlands Co-operative Society, set for completion this autumn.

Following on from the construction of the new BT building at Providence Place, one of the Midlands' biggest regeneration projects, the Group's Stoford Retail division have secured planning and are building the new eco-friendly 9,000 sq ft food store on the long disused site of a former motor dealership in the Hill Top area of the town.

Designed by architects 3DReid, Stoford Retail have appointed A&H Construction to deliver the new single storey store that will incorporate a heat-reducing brise soleil canopy and a low-emission long-life aluminium framed glazing. The store will also include level entry access, automatic sliding doors and associated parking and landscaping.

Martin Head, Director of A&H Construction, said: "We are delighted to be continuing our long-standing association with Stoford Developments in this project."

Carl Stacey, Director of Stoford Retail, added: "The attractive new Co-operative foodstore will boost the local economy, improve the environment and create new jobs in an area of the Black Country that has been earmarked for regeneration."

Commenting on behalf of Midlands Co-operative Society, David Melhuish, Head of Development and Facilities, said: "We are pleased that this project is getting off the ground and confident that Stoford Retail will deliver a quality unit on time and on budget. Once complete the food store will provide the local community with a wide range of products for their everyday shopping needs."
