Experience is vital according to an International manufacturing
company who have relocated to Pershore, near Worcester.
Joerns Healthcare based in Drakes Broughton needing to recruit
six new employees, opted to provide an opportunity to a group of
longer-term unemployed job seekers all of whom possessed the
necessary industrial experience.
It's a decision paying dividends for the company, a brand leader
for over a quarter of a century, after joining forces with
employment and training specialists Pertemps People Development
Group's (PPDGs) Shrub Hill office in Worcester.
PPDGs Employment Liaison Co-ordinator, Haydn Clifford said
Joerns were seeking people with particular skill sets in order to
hit the ground running after the relocation.
"Our contracts help the disadvantaged job seeker re-access the
workplace so we consistently work alongside a whole range of job
seekers looking for a new opportunity," he said. "The relationship
with Joerns has definitely proved beneficial to all parties
involved."
New employee, 50-year-old Kevan Gandy found 18 months of
unemployment a depressing experience but he is now delighted to
find himself back in work again.
Kevan who lives in Droitwich has a hearing deficiency and
thought it was a real barrier to finding employment again. He
secured his job based on previous industry experience and is
thrilled to be a part of the Joerns team.
Operations Manager Peter Hough commended the candidates
submitted for interview.
"We had previous experience of sourcing staff through this route
and were fully supported even down to using the Worcester premises
to conduct our interviews.
"The quality of candidate in line with our relevant experience
criteria was first class given everyone's length of
unemployment."
