The Environment Agency is looking forward to a bright future,
following the installation of an impressive solar electricity
system, at its offices in Lichfield.
The south-facing roof at the Environment Agency offices, offered
the perfect location for the installation of the solar energy
system, which will offset the organisation's electricity bills and
allow it to benefit from the government's Feed in Tariff (FiT)
Scheme.
The significant contract was awarded to Worcestershire-based
Eco2Solar, which installed the highly efficient, sharp
mono-crystalline modules, from its wide range of PV modules. The
resulting system generates a remarkable 16 kilowatts, and fully
optimises all of the available roof space.
Each year, the system is estimated to provide over 13,750kwh of
free electricity; all of which will be eligible for FiT Scheme
payments of 32.9p, in addition to providing free electricity for
the Environment Agency. This equates to a combined total of over
£6,000 in free electricity and FiT payments, which are
guaranteed for the next 25 years, and are linked to inflation.
This project represents one of the largest single solar PV
installations conducted by Eco2Solar, and highlights the
capabilities of a small, but growing business' ability to manage
such a large project effectively and efficiently.
Paul Hutchens, Managing Director of Eco2Solar, describes the
project as "an exciting opportunity to install a large solar energy
system, for such a high profile organisation as the Environment
Agency. We look forward to seeing the results of this system in the
coming months."
With the success of the Feed in Tariff and the growing
reputation of Eco2Solar across the Midlands and beyond, projects of
this size and larger will soon become more and more common.
