Multi award-winning Derbyshire hotel and restaurant, East lodge,
is once again sponsoring the Concours d'Elegance at the Bakewell
Show. Talking place on Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 August, this
year's 181st Bakewell Show will be one of the main country events
of the summer, for everything from cattle judging and Carriage
Driving to Chariots of Fire displays.
The Bakewell Show and East Lodge have been permanent fixtures in
the local area for some 181 years. "The Show has been part of our
local history since 1819 and since East Lodge was built in around
1800, it is fitting that we should be an active supporter of the
Show," said East Lodge deputy managing director, Iain
Hardman. "Last year we had a great deal of positive feedback from
our involvement, so we are already looking forward to this year's
Show."
An annual event organised by the Bakewell Agricultural and
Horticultural Society, the Bakewell Show offers something for
everyone, including over 300 trade stands presenting a selection of
local crafts and produce, with food, clothing, garden furniture and
much, much more for sale.
Known as the 'Little Royal', the show continues to draw over
65,000 visitors annually from all over the UK. Located just three
miles south east of Bakewell, the close proximity of East Lodge
makes the hotel the perfect place to stay for the duration of the
show, allowing visitors to relax and unwind whilst taking in the
attractions of the region and the largest tented agricultural event
in the UK.
Both East Lodge and the Bakewell Show are set in their own
grounds, each with its own picturesque landscape in the heart of
the Peak District. So after a busy day at the show, East Lodge
makes the perfect welcome retreat: either for an overnight stay, or
dining in style in the hotel's award winning restaurant, which uses
the very best of locally sourced produce to create an exceptional
dining experience to savour.
East Lodge is owned by the Hardman family and has picked up a
wide range of prestigious accolades over recent years. The hotel
has again achieved the coveted AA "Inspectors' Choice" accolade
with three red stars for 2010, placing it within the top 150 hotels
in the UK and East Lodge is one of just 48 hotels in UK presented
with a Visit England Gold Award.
The strength of the Bakewell Show is clear from the fact that it
has survived over the years when many other shows have fallen by
the wayside. Even the Foot and Mouth outbreaks were not enough to
stop it and this year the show is expected to be better than ever.
The Bakewell Show opens its doors each day at 8.30 am and finishes
at 6.30 pm each evening.
