The Birmingham based asset management team at Cushman &
Wakefield has helped the firm scoop a top honour at the SCEPTRE
awards, the retail industry's equivalent of the 'Oscars'.
At the awards, Cushman & Wakefield was named 'managing agent
of the year'. The firm also won the 'security team of the year' and
'centre manager of the year' awards.
The awards are sponsored by Shopping Centre magazine, which is
the trade 'bible' for the retail destination industry.
The 'managing agent of the year' award is aimed at recognising
'best practice in property and asset management of shopping centres
at both a tactical and strategic level'.
The award organisers said Cushman & Wakefield - which
manages 30 major shopping centre in the UK - were worthy
winners, and singled out the firm's 'retailer relationship
initiative' as being particularly notable.
This initiative involves assigning a member of the firm's asset
management team to each significant tenant at a scheme, to help
their relationship with the shopping centre. Tenants in the scheme
include: British Home Stores, Arcadia, Next and River
Island.
Phillip Taylor, property and asset management partner at Cushman
& Wakefield in Birmingham, said winning the award was a huge
accolade for the firm and an accurate endorsement of the strength
of its property management team.
"This is a very prestigious award, and recognises not just some
of the initiatives we have introduced to help clients and their
tenants, but also the efforts made by our teams up and down the
country, particularly here in Birmingham," he said.
*Cushman & Wakefield has won another award, this time for
its efforts last year in disposing of a huge portfolio of 177
properties on behalf of Wolseley UK. The transaction helped the
firm secure the 'corporate real estate partnership award' at the
recent CoreNet Global UK Chapter Awards in London, which are aimed
at corporate real estate professionals.
