The NEC has appointed ComCab as its partner taxi operator for
the next three years following a competitive tender process and
consultation with Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council.
The contract ensures that ComCab taxis are the only vehicles
that can rank and ply for trade at the main entrances of the NEC.
However, in order to accommodate customers who have arranged a taxi
in advance with another operator, the NEC has created two new pick
up and set down areas, which are located close to the main
entrance.
Richard Campbell-Kelly, Property Manager at the NEC, said: "With
thousands of visitors travelling by taxi to the NEC each week, we
wanted to ensure consistently high levels of service that enhance
the experience of everyone arriving or departing the site.
"We received several excellent applications through the tender
process, but the strong regional presence of ComCab combined with
its expertise as a national operator gave us the perfect fit. We
all look forward to working with them throughout this three-year
partnership."
ComCab will operate two taxi ranks onsite at the NEC, which will
be staffed at peak times to ensure that visitors can depart swiftly
on to their intended destination.
Simon Haynes, General Manager at ComCab Birmingham Ltd, said:
"Working with the NEC is a fantastic opportunity for the company
and our drivers, and we look forward to servicing the needs of its
customers over the next three years.
"We're committed to providing the best possible service to our
customers, ensuring prompt arrival and pick-ups, vehicles with a
range of capacities and flexible payment through cash or card."
