Three charities have benefitted from more than £2,000
raised by a Derby-based solicitor, David Kaplan following
completion of his first ever marathon run.
Cash raised by David, a director at Nelsons, has been divided
between Cancer Research UK, The British Heart Foundation and
Starlight.
Commenting on his achievements, David says: "There were so many
deserving charities but in the end I chose 3 with which I have a
personal interest. Both Cancer Research UK and The British Heart
Foundation are well known charities, and cancer and heart disease
have affected family members and people close to me. Starlight
grants wishes to seriously and terminally ill children, and
entertains children in hospitals and hospices throughout the UK. I
have raised money for Starlight in the past and the wishes they
grant children make a huge difference to their lives.
"Thanks to the kind donations and sponsorship by friends,
colleagues and business contacts, the cash-boost for these
charities is more than I had hoped to achieve. I'm also very glad
to have my first ever marathon under my belt, completed in less
than my target time of 3 and half hours!"
David ran the Edinburgh Marathon on 22nd May in a time of
3hrs23mins38secs.
