Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service's annual Awards
Presentation Ceremony is to be sponsored by a private organisation
for the first time this year, thanks to a generous sponsorship deal
with Nottingham-based solicitors Browne Jacobson.
For the past four years, Browne Jacobson has sponsored the
Nottinghamshire and City of Nottingham Fire Authority's Community
Safety Award, which is presented annually to a group or individuals
who have successfully promoted safety in their local
area.
This year, Browne Jacobson has agreed to increase its level of
sponsorship to also cover the cost of staging the event.
The ceremony, which is due to take place at Service Headquarters
in October, will see a number of awards presented to operational
personnel, support staff and members of the public. They include
the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, which is presented by the
Queen's representative, Lord Lieutenant Sir Andrew Buchanan Bt JP,
to operational fire fighters and control operators after 20 years'
service. Awards marking 25 and 30 years' service, Chief Fire
Officer's Commendations and the Fire Authority's Community Safety
Award, which will continue to be sponsored by Browne Jacobson, are
also presented at the ceremony.
Chief Fire Officer Frank Swann said: "Browne Jacobson has
sponsored the Community Safety Award for a number of years and we
are delighted to further cement our relationship with them through
their increased involvement in the awards presentation evening.
"The ceremony is very important to us as a way of
rewarding loyal service and acts of bravery carried out by our
staff and members of the public. At a time when we all have to
monitor our spending carefully, the sponsorship from Browne
Jacobson means we can continue to formally recognise these
achievements, and for that we are extremely grateful."
Peter Jones of Browne Jacobson commented "As a firm that has
worked closely with the fire services community for many years it
is a pleasure and a privilege to join Nottinghamshire Fire and
Rescue in celebrating the commitment, dedication and valour of so
many members of the service. These awards are a fitting opportunity
to recognise their dedication to serving the people of Nottingham
and Nottinghamshire as well as the valuable contribution we can all
make to community fire safety."
