Thirty Kraft Foods employees from the UK Finance team have been
helping to improve accommodation services for the homeless across
Birmingham as part of a large scale volunteering challenge.
Midland Heart owned South Road House in Sparkbrook and Helen
Dixon House in Moseley were given a sweet makeover as volunteers
helped to decorate the interior and repair facilities at the
centres.
Both South Road House and Helen Dixon House help men and women
respectively by providing temporary accommodation for those over
the age of 25 years who are in need of housing and support.
Heather Bristow, Community Champion and organiser of the
volunteer activities, said: "I am thrilled with the amount of
volunteers that have taken part in the day overall. We have a real
passion for community volunteering at Kraft Foods and we have
worked with Midland Heart previously so I'm pleased that we could
assist them again in maintaining the high standards at their
services across the region."
The day with Midland Heart comes as part of a longstanding
relationship between Cadbury and the organisation. Last year, over
150 employees from Kraft Foods and Cadbury volunteered with Midland
Heart owned accommodation and support services as part of Kraft
Foods' Make a Delicious Difference Week.
Judith Cross, operations manager for supported housing at
Midland Heart, said: "Our aim is to enable our service users to
gain, maintain and sustain independent living skills that will help
them move on in a positive way into more permanent and independent
accommodation. Through the volunteering efforts from the team at
Kraft Foods, we can continue to dedicate our time to supporting the
people who need it most."
