AHOY there! A mighty pirate ship is on course to arrive in
Lincoln bang on time for one of the city's most popular Summertime
attractions.
Wragby-based Playdays is busy putting the finishing touches to
an impressivesix metres by three metres vessel, which will anchor
up at The Beach for the duration of Lincoln by the Sea.
Well-behaved youngsters will be able to board the ship and tread
its gangplanks,as well as build sandcastles and play games on
Lincoln's very own beach, with its newly-painted
surround.
And while mums and dads bag the authentic seaside deckchairs and
enjoy an ice cream and a chat with friends, children of all ages
will also be able to goon fairground rides and play floor
games.
Apart from the pirate ship, which is made of treated timber and
which boastsraised decks and a mast, there is another exciting
treat in store.
This year youngsters will be able to try a spot of Water
Zorbing, between August 11 and 15.
So the message is - don't forget your buckets, spades and
beach balls, and make a date to visit the beach, in City Square,
between August 1 and 27.
The Beach is the brainchild of Lincoln BIG, which is staging
this Summer attraction with the help of partial-funding from the
European Regional Development Fund.
Lincoln BIG events and promotions manager Michael Armstrong
said: "The Beachproved to be a runaway success last Summer, so
we're recreating it - but this time with some great new
twists.
"We're hoping that families will make the most of it and have a
great time. We're inviting everyone who visit The Beach to
make a real day of it by coming into the city early and also making
time to pop into city centre shops and cafes."
