Derbyshire firm Wildgoose Construction has won contracts worth a
total of £14m to build two state-of-the art care homes.
The Ashover-based company has secured the deals with the Restful
Homes Group for a £9m care home in Lichfield,
Staffordshire, and a £5m care home in Stratford.
Wildgoose has started on site in Lichfield and the build is
scheduled to take 52 weeks.
The 112-bed care home will be built over three storeys in the
grounds of the Samuel Johnson Hospital in Trent Valley Road in the
town.
There will be a range of modern facilities on offer including
hairdressing salons and a roof garden.
Tom Cawley, chief executive of the Restful Homes Group, said all
different types of care would be available, including, dementia,
residential and continual health care.
He said: "There will be some fantastic facilities on offer
including the hairdressing salons and the rooftop garden. A lift
will come up on to the rooftop where there will be a sensory garden
with seating and a water feature for residents to enjoy."
The build in Scholars Lane, Stratford, has also started and is
scheduled to be completed in March 2012.
The 64-bed care home will be built over three storeys and will
include a large restaurant, a café bar, hairdressing salons
and an in-house cinema.
Mr Cawley said there would be a range of fabulous facilities on
offer at the new care home.
He said: "All the old films will be played at the in-house
cinema. We already have a cinema at a care home we built in Milton
Keynes and it has proved very popular.
"The care home will be right in the centre of town so it's a
great location and the bedrooms and communal areas will all be
bigger than the standard guidelines."
Tim Walker, managing director of Wildgoose Construction, said he
was pleased to be working with the Restful Homes Group on both
contracts.
He said: "We have now completed two care homes for the Restful
Homes Group and currently have another two on site. It is
particularly pleasing to be working again with such an enlightened
client and a design team that understands the client's aspirations
and quality requirements. These new care homes incorporate some
state-of-the-art concepts in the world of elderly living and have
been designed to ensure that the residents enjoy the day-to-day
activities and living accommodation provided by the group."
