Wesleyan Assurance Society, the financial services specialist
for doctors, dentists, lawyers and teachers, today announced the
appointment of Martin Bryant to its Board of Directors. Mr Bryant
has over 30 years sales, marketing and strategy experience in both
the private and public sector.
Mr Bryant spent 13 years working for The Boots Group in a number
of positions including Group Director of Business Development where
he was responsible for corporate strategy development and new
business creation. As Managing Director of two subsidiaries, he
oversaw a number of initiatives including the introduction of
optical practices to the store's portfolio.
Mr Bryant retired in 2007 from the position of Chief Executive
at The Shareholder Executive, a unique cross Governmental
organisation providing corporate finance advice and shareholder
management for 27 businesses with an asset base of £20
billion. Prior to that, he was Strategy Director at the Home Office
and worked as Chief Operating Officer of BP Retail.
Bryan Jackson, Wesleyan's Chairman, welcomed Mr Bryant to the
Board saying, "We are delighted to be joined by Martin, a respected
and talented businessman. His extensive experience will be
invaluable as we continue to grow our business and refine our
strategy. Martin's deep understanding of risk and audit processes
will also be important to the Board and the wider business."
Mr Bryant said, "It is a real pleasure to be working with

the recent challenging economic climate. Having met with the Senior
Management team and seen their dedication and enthusiasm, I'm very

vision and passion to succeed."
Mr Bryant holds a number of non executive positions including
Buying Solutions, the national procurement partner for UK public
services; Vision Aid Overseas, a leading sight charity; the Fire
Service College and he is Chairman of the Scout Shops, the trading
arm of the Scout Association. He has an MA from Oxford University
and an MBA from Cranfield School of Management.
