Gold will be the theme as The Guildhall Shopping Centre celebrates its 20th anniversary this weekend.

As part of the programme of events to mark the occasion, the centre's malls will be decorated with gold balloons and there will be a competition to reward the visitors who are sporting the most 'bling'.

Five £20 shopping vouchers are on offer to those who wear the most sparkling, golden jewellery on the day, and there will also be gold face painters available for others who want to take part.

It's the brainchild of Marketing Manager Anne Graham, who wants to create a party atmosphere at the centre, 20 years to the day since Princess Anne officially opened Stafford's premier shopping attraction on 11th June 1991.

She said: "We've organised loads of activities to help celebrate our birthday, including a family fun weekend featuring craft workshops, a mysterious wizard, and some special celebrity visitors.

"We want everyone to get into the spirit by wearing as much bling as they can find and having their face painted - and there are prizes on offer to those who get carried away!"
