Stormsaver is delighted to announce a new partnership with
non-profit conservation experts, Biosphere Expeditions.
The UK's leading designer and manufacturer of rainwater
harvesting systems, has pledged to support two educational projects
in Namibia run by Biosphere Expeditions.
Following a recent expedition to Namibia, Michael Farnsworth,
managing director of Stormsaver, decided he wanted to do more to
help young people in the region understand about conservation and
their environmental impact.
"I was part of an expedition, which, next to conducting research
on leopards and other animals, helped to oversee the start of an
extensive education programme, helping young people to learn about
the interrelationships between humans and animals, and the
importance of sustainable living, energy use, waste products and of
course - the use of water and the impact on the planet's
biosphere."
"Following on from that expedition, I am delighted to announce a
continuing partnership with Biosphere Expeditions to help aid their
work with the young people in the townships of Windhoek, Namibia. I
truly believe that young people really are our future and so we
need to educate them about the most efficient and sustainable ways
of living, to make a real and positive difference to the
environment," added Michael.
The funding will go towards two training courses called "The
Next Generation of Wildlife Guides" and "The Next Generation of
Conservationists". On an annual basis, these programmes will allow
up to 150 children from up to 10 schools across the region, to
learn about conservation and sustainability and visit the nearby
game park.
Working specifically with higher education establishments in
Windhoek including the University and Polytechnic, "The Next
Generation of Conservationists" programme will also fund the
training of two Namibian students to become qualified
conservationists.
Dr. Matthias Hammer, executive director of Biosphere
Expeditions, said: "We are delighted that Michael and the
Stormsaver team have pledged their support to our projects. We
believe that through their support we will be able to continue to
teach young people and their families about the importance of
sustainable living and the impact on the planet's biosphere. We are
confident that this project will really help to improve lives
locally."
