Royal Wedding celebrations boost Birchover's occupancy rates

A late Easter, combined with an the extended Royal Wedding break and the late May bank holiday have contributed to a boom in business for a Derbyshire hotel venue.

Birchover Hotel Apartments, which have 70 luxury one and two bedroomed apartments in Allestree and Darley Abbey, have experienced a significant increase in business over the last six weeks, with occupancy levels at capacity for a large proportion of this period.

The hotel apartments were fully booked over the two week period between Easter and the Royal Wedding weekend, with many people taking advantage of the back-to-back bank holiday weekends and travelling to the area on mini breaks or to take part in the festivities in celebration of the Royal Wedding, which took place across the county.

Tourism accounts for a large percentage of Birchover's occupancy levels; however, this usually extends from Friday to Sunday only. During the last week of April, occupancy levels peaked at 100% - a significant increase over the same time last year, with visitors arriving on Thursday and staying for the full four nights.

The latest bank holiday weekend has been just as busy, with some guests returning shortly after their last stay to enjoy another break in the Derbyshire countryside.

Commenting on the increase in occupancy levels during the recent bank holiday period, Carl Bridge, commercial director at Birchover Hotel Apartments said:

"The additional bank holiday was the perfect opportunity for many people to get away for a long weekend, which contributed to an increase in occupancy levels; however, this trend continued throughout May and into June and our two bedroom apartments are now fully booked every weekend throughout the summer and only a limited number of one bedroom apartments still available, which is tremendous given the difficult economic conditions," added Carl.

Set in the heart of Derby, Birchover Hotel Apartments were established more than 20 years ago and provides luxurious accommodation and a dedicated service for business travellers and tourists alike.

Each apartment features a lounge, dining area and fully-equipped kitchen with crockery, cutlery, pans and glassware. Each bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom and many suites have their own sauna.

Wifi, parking and a wide range of items for families travelling with children, including cots, high chairs, bottle warmers and sterilisers are all included in the cost.
