An award winning Staffordshire Indian restaurant has served up a
fantastic treat for its customers by naming curry dishes after two
Wimbledon stars to celebrate the annual sporting event.
The Dilshad Restaurant, in Chadsmoor, near Cannock, will be
offering customers a chance to try the Roger Rogan Josh and Murray
Masala during the duration of the tournament.
Customers who order any of the two curries during the Wimbledon
Championships which takes place between June 20 and July 3 will
enjoy free strawberries and cream for dessert.
Tony Uddin, owner of the Dilshad, situated on Cannock Road, will
also be serving a free glass of Pimm's for each customer on the day
of both the ladies and men's finals on July 2 and 3.
Both strawberries and cream and the refreshing drink of Pimm's
are synonymous with the summer and the Wimbledon Championships.
Tony said: "We really wanted to do something to celebrate
Wimbledon. It is a fantastic annual event and people who aren't
usually big tennis fans always enjoy Wimbledon fortnight.
"We are always looking to join in the fun and thought Wimbledon
would be a perfect opportunity to reward our customers.
"Roger Federer is arguably the greatest tennis player of all
time so I thought it would be perfect to honour him with a curry
named after him so we have come up with a Roger Rogan Josh.
"We couldn't leave out our own Great Britain hope Andy Murray so
we have named the Murray Masala in honour of him.
"People who purchase either curry will receive free strawberries
and cream for dessert. On finals day we will also offer a free
glass of Pimm's to anyone who comes in for a meal on both the
women's and men's finals day."
The Dilshad is the most established Indian restaurant in the
Cannock area having been open for more than 30 years.
Since its opening in 1979 the Dilshad has won a clutch of
trophies for its excellent food and service.
This includes winning the Midlands Curry Cup back in 2008 after
the restaurant impressed the Midlands Balti Association with its
choice of spices and presentation methods.
And last year Dilshad chef Babul Miah was named Chef Of The Year
in the Midlands Curry Awards beating chefs from over 50 restaurants
in Staffordshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and
Leicestershire.
