Celebrations all round as Midlands-based Oakland Distribution, a
subsidiary of multi temperature supply chain specialist Oakland
International, and The Dairy Trader, have won the prestigious
Business Initiative of the Year award at this year's The Grocer
Gold Awards 2011, held at the Guildhall in London on Wednesday 15th
June.
Other winners on the night included Asda taking the title of
Britain's Favourite Supermarket, Tesco the Online Retailer of the
Year, Morrisons the Employer of the Year and Sainsbury's taking the
title of Grocer 33 Availability Award.
The Dairy Trader Consolidation Scheme won with their unique,
independent consolidation service, set up by Oakland Distribution,

catering products across the dairy range. A bespoke service, it is
the only dairy consolidation scheme to offer fresh cream and milk
to the whole of mainland UK.
Oakland International MD, Dean Attwell, stated: "We are all
absolutely delighted for The Dairy Trader and the whole Oakland
Distribution team, along with the entire Oakland family, for
winning such a prestigious and highly regarded and recognised
Grocer Gold Award."
The awards, recognising the best of the best in grocery retail
for service, initiative and commitment, is held in high regard by
all within the industry.
The Dairy Trader's Director, Rob Cross, stated: "For a young
business such as ours to win probably the industry's biggest award
is amazing, and recognizes the gap in the market we have filled.
Our customers have trusted our business model, and our suppliers
have seen the potential and have been incredibly supportive of our
aims. Oakland Distribution and The Dairy Trader have formed a
fantastic partnership, bringing together two skill sets which have
allowed us to be creative and flexible in our approach. We are
chuffed to bits with this award!"
