National commercial property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton
(LSH) has sold a major Coventry factory in one of the biggest deals
in the city this year.
The 70,087 sq ft factory unit in Torrington Avenue, Tile Hill,
was previously owned by Swedish engineering group Sandvik. They
have disposed of the site as they are consolidating onto another
larger plant nearby. The deal was led by the Birmingham office of
LSH.
The building has been bought for an undisclosed sum by the R.A.
Shield Holdings Group on behalf of their Coventry-based
production engineering subsidiary company Woolley GMC Eng Co
Ltd.
Woolley GMC specialises in the supply of ferrous and non-ferrous
machined components and assemblies to OEM customers in the diesel
engine and power generation sectors, as well as construction
equipment, off-road vehicle and agricultural markets.
Sandvik is a high technology engineering company specialising in
tooling, materials technology, mining and construction. Its UK
headquarters is in Halesowen.
Alex Hanna, Associate Director in LSH's Birmingham-based
Industrial and Logistics Agency team said: "This is a very
significant deal for Coventry. It is also unusual in the current
environment that such a large building should be sold to a
manufacturing company
"Buildings of this size don't become available that often and it
is gratifying to know that it will be used to continue the great
engineering heritage of this region."
