Birmingham Children's Hospital's quest to build the first hybrid
cardiac theatre for children in the UK, has received more than
£15,000 of additional funding support from the Midlands
leading private equity provider LDC.
Strong supporters of Birmingham Children's Hospital since 2006,
LDC's Birmingham-based team completed numerous physical, mental and
largely exhausting challenges to contribute towards the hospital's
specialist cardiac theatre build project, which is scheduled to
launch in early 2012.
With children from all across Europe needing specialist
treatment by Birmingham Children's Hospital's world class surgeons,
the new larger state-of-the-art theatre will allow a greater number
of patients to be treated at any one time, thereby successfully
reducing waiting times for what can often be life-saving
surgery.
Having donated a combined total of more than £88,000 to
Birmingham Children's Hospital over the last five years, the LDC
team is now committed to an ambitious fundraising schedule for the
remainder of 2011, which will see them running, walking and cycling
their way towards their target total of more than
£100,000.
Leading LDC's charitable campaign is James Robinson, who has
also pledged to run the Birmingham half-marathon in October as well
as the New York marathon in November in support of the hospital.
James, who will soon start training for his marathon attempts,
hopes to secure more than £5000 in his individual fundraising
alone.
The LDC team will also take part in the infamous BRMB Walkathon
in May, and will host golf days and quiz evenings which they hope
will attract generous sponsorship support from portfolio companies,
fellow professionals and friends.
Speaking of the team's fundraising objectives James Robinson,
LDC said:
"Over the last few years, Birmingham Children's Hospital has
become a firm fixture in LDC's charitable concern. The hospital
provides astonishing paediatric care to some of the sickest
children in the UK, and as a team we are currently committed to
raising as much money as possible to help fund the hybrid cardiac
theatre build project."
Fidelis Hynam, Corporate Fundraising Manager, Birmingham
Children's Hospital added:
"Having donated more than £88,000 to the hospital since
2006, I would like to sincerely thank LDC for being one of our most
loyal supporters.
"The team was instrumental in supporting our Burn Centre
Campaign back in 2007, when they raised more than £53,000 to
help build a national centre of excellence for children suffering
from horrific burns. Since then, their commitment to the hospital
has been consistently reliable and we cannot thank them
enough."
