Kraft Foods employees have treated the National Trust site of
Baddesley Clinton to a sweet makeover as part of a community
challenge.
Twenty volunteers from Kraft Foods helped to lay out gravel
paths, collect a large number of outgrown trees and safely burn
away cuttings.
Gemma Parker, a volunteer from the Cadbury site in Bournville
who helped to organise the day, said:
"We chose to help out at Baddesley Clinton because of its close
proximity to the Cadbury site at Bournville. It was a fantastic day
and all twenty volunteers really enjoyed themselves. There is a
great sense of satisfaction in knowing that the work we have done
will be enjoyed by so many people for many years to come."
The activity follows a long-standing relationship between
colleagues from the Bournville site and Baddesley Clinton, and both
parties are looking forward to working together again in the
future.
Mark Watkins, head gardener at Baddesley Clinton, said:
"The National Trust is a charity that is completely independent
of Government. We protect and open to the public over 350 historic
houses, gardens and ancient monuments and as a charity, they
require constant support from volunteers. I would like to express
my thanks to the team, whose enthusiasm and hard work made for a
fun, enjoyable and productive day."
