Employees from the Cadbury site in Bournville are taking part in a 1000 mile, nationwide bike ride from John O'Groats to Land's End to raise £20,000 for ParalympicsGB.

David Holmes, Nila Naik, Alan Lewis and Phil Thurston will make up part of a team of 20 volunteers from Kraft Foods sites across the UK participating in the Deloitte Ride Across Britain challenge from 11th - 20th June 2011.

Nila Naik, Spots V Stripes ambassador at the Cadbury site in Bournville, said: "ParalympicsGB is a registered charity that is responsible for selecting, preparing, entering, funding and managing Britain's Paralympic athletes. At Bournville, we're aiming to raise £4000 to go towards our overall target and I'd like to thank everyone who has donated so far, we greatly appreciate all contributions to what we feel is a very worthy cause.

"We've all been training hard and, as part of our preparation, we were lucky enough to gain some expert advice from sprint kayak Olympic gold medallist Tim Brabants. We're fully prepared and are all really looking forward to the challenge ahead."

In June 2010, a team of 16 employees took part in Ride Across Britain and raised over £15,000 for the charity, with other employees at the workplace taking part in Virtual Ride Across Britain, in which they clocked up over 1000 miles on stationary bikes located at various sites all over the UK.
