How to establish yourself as a profitable practice

Dental professionals from throughout the Midlands can learn from the experts on how to become more commercially focused in the way they develop and run their practices.

The advice and business solutions seminar, takes place on the 22nd June at Birmingham Medical Institute in Edgbaston. It has been devised to help dentists establish their practices as profitable ones without compromising levels of patient care.

Four leading professionals will deliver the intensive evening seminar to dentists from the Midlands region, all keen to overcome the constant challenges they face in running their practices.

Representing Sydney Mitchell Solicitors will be Consultant Solicitor, Tony Harris and Norman Conway Rea, an employment law specialist.

Mr Harris has extensive experience in giving both commercial and legal advice to a range of healthcare professionals and is well renowned for his involvement in numerous successful property transactions. Mr Conway Rea's specialism is in the complex field of employment law. As a Tribunal advocate he has written many technical articles for the legal and national press.

Combing forces with the Sydney Mitchell team will be accountancy firm Ballard Dale Syree Watson. Audit and accounts manager Tej Baden, specialises in advising clients in both the healthcare and commercial sectors on financial systems and performance strategies. He will be presenting a case for improving practice profitability including advice on the most efficient ways of reducing tax liabilities, such as maximising capital allowance claims.

Joining the legal and financial experts is Michael White, representing Doctors Invest Direct. Mr White's career in the financial services spans some 21 years, having advised many 'high net worth' clients in the medical sector on pensions, investment and estate planning.

Doctors Invest Direct specialises in the area of wealth creation. Its managing director, Keith Taylor has 30 years of experience in providing independent financial advice to a range of healthcare professionals.

Ballard Dale Syree Watsons' Matthew Watson, who also has extensive experience in providing advice to the full gamut of healthcare professionals said: "Dentists are very busy clinicians who face a raft of challenges as dentistry is becoming far more regulated and commercially competitive, particularly in today's difficult economic climate. The seminar offers a huge resource in terms of legal and financial guidance in one intensive evening session.

"To have this wealth and diversity of consolidated 'free' expertise under one roof, in a relaxed and comfortable environment makes so much sense. Furthermore delegates can also benefit from networking with other like minded professionals and share experiences without forfeiting valuable patient chair time."
