Hill Valley Spa, Hotel and Golf - part of the prestigious Macdonald Hotels & Resorts group - has been chosen to host the 70th anniversary celebrations of one of the UK's leading international storage and distribution companies.

The hotel, in Whitchurch, Shropshire, will host Grocontinental's black tie Sapphire Ball on July 30 for 220 people in its Shropshire Suite.

Grocontinental, which has its headquarters in Whitchurch, is one of the town's top employers and chose Hill Valley because of the luxury surroundings and top event services.

Hill Valley General Manager Sacha Cauwels- Wigan said: "We are incredibly proud to be hosting an event like this with a company that is such a long-established local employer and a leading international business.

"Grocontinental chose us as we are both well-established and reputable local companies who share the same quality values.

"We are both part of the Whitchurch business community so it is fantastic to be working together for this special anniversary celebration."

Grocontinental was founded in the 1930s by the father of current Chairman, Ray Grocott. It now employs 300 people, oversees 120,000 pallet spaces of multi-temperature storage and 4,000 daily pallet movements from the 24/7 purpose-built 25-acre site in Whitchurch.

The company's transport division comprises 56 tractor units and 120 temperature-controlled trailers which operate throughout Europe.

All proceeds from the anniversary celebrations will be donated to The Whitchurch Hospital and Severn Hospice.

Guests will enjoy cocktails on arrival followed by a three course meal, live music and disco and charity auction and draw.

Linda Grocott, Grocontinental Joint Managing Director, said: "We like to support local businesses as much as possible and we have a long association with the Hill Valley Hotel.

'The hotel provides the perfect venue for our anniversary celebrations.  The charity ball will be the flagship event of our special year and it's great that we have a local venue to accommodate all our needs - a superb ballroom, excellent catering and first-class accommodation for guests."
