Dozens of golfers chipped in for charity at a Worcestershire
event - and managed to lose 299 balls in the process!
Businesses from across the county entered teams in the event
hosted by chartered accountants The Richards Sandy Partnership at
Bransford Golf Club. The 78 players raised just under £3,000
to be divided equally between two good causes - Noah's Ark Trust
and Cycle Kenya.
Harrison Clark Solicitors were the winning team. Others taking
part included sponsors Halls, Smith & Williamson, Inksmoor
Credit Management, Barclays Bank, Thursfields Solicitors and
English Mutual. Raffle prizes were generously donated by Brown's
Restaurant, Saffron's Bistro, Four Seasons Restaurant, Peplow's
Jewellers and Worcestershire County Cricket Club.
Charlotte Fullard, senior surveyor at property agents Halls
Commercial, said: "It was a fantastic day of golf and we are so
grateful for all the support shown by local businesses in raising
almost £3,000 for the charities."
Host Rob Richards, of The Richards Sandy Partnership, said:
"There were no holes in one, but the course was quite challenging
with a lot of water and quite high winds. Knowing this, we had a
'lost ball lottery' in which the 78 players taking part were asked
to guess the number of balls that we would lose. The grand total
was 299!"
The Richards Sandy Partnership selected local charity the Noah's
Ark Trust to receive hald of the proceeds. The charity provides
bereavement support for children, young people and families across
Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Professional staff and trained
volunteers work one-to-one with youngsters who have experienced the
death of a parent, relative or someone close.
The other half of the proceeds has been donated to Cycle Kenya,
a gruelling marathon being attempted by Charlotte Fullard, from
Halls, and two friends - Michelle Sanders and Sarah Radkley.
Charlotte has saddled herself with a mammoth African adventure -
cycling 400 kilometres across Kenya in the Women v Cancer event in
October.
The intrepid trio agreed to take on the monumental challenge of
cycling across 400km of the Kenyan landscape to raise funds for
victims of breast, cervical and ovarian cancer. Hundreds of women
from across the UK will take part in the event organised by Action
for Charity later this year. Charlotte and the team will push
themselves to their limits as they cycle along the slopes of Mount
Kenya and the shores of Lake Victoria.
Charlotte, who is getting support from friends and colleagues at
Halls Commercial, appealed for local businesses to help their
efforts by donating charity auction items or providing sponsorship.
