Former Leicester City chief executive Barrie Pierpoint has lined
up two major Leicestershire sporting names to help him kick off his
latest business venture.
Pierpoint, a much-talked-about feature of City's regime under
legendary boss Martin O'Neill and currently managing partner of bp
Business and Management Consultants, reveals that gold events is to
host prestigious testimonial dinners for recently retired Leicester
Tigers and England rugby union ace Harry Ellis (September 8) and
Leicestershire cricket stalwart Claude Henderson (November 10) as
part of a varied autumn programme.
Claire 'The Rottweiler' Young, a finalist in BBC TV's The
Apprentice in 2008, is making a double appearance on October 14 and
November 4 and, on a lighter note, gold events will be hosting two
Fawlty Towers evenings at Loughborough College's Futures Restaurant
(September 13 and 14).
"We will be doing everything from gala dinners and carnivals to
business meetings and community events - and having a lot of fun
along the way."
Pierpoint's influence is highlighted by his Leicester-based
business partner Chris Tandy, a highly-acclaimed host himself from
his restaurant days in the city.
Chris says: "We must have organised hundreds of functions
between us, so present a very interesting cocktail.
"Barrie provides the organisational brains and flair to give you
total peace of mind whereas I love to be at the front of the house
on the day itself."
