A Leadbeater, has joined the family law team at
Lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire based law firm Andrew & Co LLP.
Sue will work predominantly from the Newark office of the firm.
Managing partner and head of the Family Law Team at Andrew &
Co, Julie Bailey, said: "We're really pleased to have Sue onboard.
She is a highly respected and accredited member of Resolution, an
organisation of family lawyers that promotes a non-confrontational
approach to family problems, which is particularly important when
children are involved."
Sue has specialised in family law in Nottinghamshire for the
past 11 years and handled many cases on behalf of both married and
non-married couples involving financial arrangements, child law and
domestic abuse. She is also a trained collaborative lawyer and has
had extensive experience in managing relationship breakdowns and
been increasingly involved in preparing Living Together agreements
and pre and post nuptial contracts.
"It's a sensitive area and for couples in the early days of a
relationship or engaged couples the last thing they want to think
about is splitting up but people in this position should consider
how they are going to settle their financial affairs should the
worst ever happen. For those in a second or third relationship with
children from a previous relationship, it is often a particular
concern as to how any assets can be protected for those children,"
says Sue.
"Living Together Agreements are becoming increasingly common and
can go some way to reducing future heartache and stress. At present
they are more legally binding than pre-nups but the law is changing
rapidly in this area bringing us in line with what already happens
in Europe," she advises.
Sue joins Andrew & Co from Shacklocks in Mansfield. She
lives in Nottinghamshire with her partner and her two teenage
children.
"I'm looking forward to further expanding the good work for
which Julie and her team are renowned and using my skills acquired
through my training and many years of experience to continue to
find effective solutions for Andrew & Co's clients," added
Sue.
