Quality craftsmanship by four members of Peak District Artisans
will come under the spotlight at one of the UK's biggest showcases
for what's hot in gardening and good food.
The talented group of artists and craftspeople has joined forces
with official tourist board Visit Peak District & Derbyshire to
highlight what's best about the area at BBC Gardeners' World Live
and the BBC Good Food Show at the NEC Birmingham from June 15 to
19.
Three members of the creative collective - which celebrates its
20th anniversary this year - will demonstrate their skills for
visitors to Visit Peak District & Derbyshire's stand, C240, in
the Countryfile Magazine Area, Hall 19.
Prolific artist Louise Jannetta, who is based in Buxton and
works in a wide range of media encompassing everything from
etchings to watercolour, will share her wide ranging interests and
techniques on June 15 and the afternoon of June 19.
Macclesfield-based jeweller and silversmith Karin Sheldon, who
works with gold, silver, platinum and precious stones and
experiments with new techniques from the Far East, will show how
she creates her imaginative and unique designs on June 16 and
17.
Kate Aimson, also based in Buxton, will give an intriguing
insight into traditional English Paper Piecing with a contemporary
slant, on June 18 and the morning of June 19.
Visitors to the show will also be able to enter a free prize
draw to win a two-night luxury break, including an award-winning
breakfast, at East Lodge Hotel & Restaurant at Rowsley, as well
as picking up the tourist board's latest publications - including
Well Dressings & Glorious Gardens 2011 and the Food & Drink
Guide 2011.
"We're both pleased and proud to join forces with Peak District
Artisans and celebrate the group's 20th anniversary in style with
demonstrations by Karin, Kate and Louise on our stand at BBC
Gardeners' World Live and the Good Food Show," said David Thornton,
the tourist board's Head of Marketing and Deputy Chief
Executive.
"Like us, and everyone involved in the tourism industry in the
Peak District and Derbyshire, their members strive to achieve
quality and excellence in all they do, so visitors are in for a
real treat this year at the NEC."
Added Chris Farrow, Chair of Peak District Artisans: "This is a
fantastic opportunity for Karin, Kate and Louise to exhibit their
work as part of this high profile show, and will give visitors a
taste of the diverse range of talent the group has to offer. We are
delighted to be working with Visit Peak District & Derbyshire,
and look forward to what is set to be a spectacular event."
