There's a change in format planned for the next meeting of HR
Exchange, Derby's only dedicated HR networking group.
Instead of the normal seminar style, the next event will take
the form of an interactive style workshop aimed at tackling
day-to-day HR issues.
The event, which is taking place on Tuesday 14 June at
Derbyshire County Cricket Club, will focus on HR issues surrounding
the management of employee sickness and absence in the
workplace.
The workshop will cover a variety of key issues facing employees
at present, including how to manage intermittent and long term
absences and how to deal with employees who may be disabled. This
will be followed by a case study on managing sickness absence and
the opportunity for delegates to discuss their own individual
experiences.
HR Exchange is the city's only dedicated HR networking group and
meets four times a year. Previous speakers include Ruth Badger from
BBC TV's 'The Apprentice' and Derby-based Kavita Oberoi, star of
Channel 4's 'Secret Millionaire', who both shared their HR
experiences with local businesses.
Commenting on the event, Rob Tice, head of employment law at
Flint Bishop LLP said:
"Management of day-to-day HR issues is a key aspect of any
business, particularly in the current climate. For many companies,
ineffective management of employee absence and sickness can cost
thousands of pounds in hours lost.
"It is important for companies to know how to manage such
absences correctly and effectively to avoid disruption to the daily
operation of their business added Sîan.
The cost for the workshop is £12.00 per person, which
includes a buffet lunch and refreshments.
HR Exchange is an informal networking group that brings together
people who are responsible for HR and provides a platform for them
to discuss topical HR issues. At each event a guest speaker
presents on a relevant HR 'hot topic' and gives an insight into how
they have approached a particular HR situation within their
organisations.
