CitySprint, the UK's largest privately owned SameDay
Distribution company with a ServiceCentre in Birmingham, Warwick
and Nottingham, has been shortlisted for the 'Safe Vehicles' award
at the 2011 Fleet Safety Forum Awards for Excellence.
The Fleet Safety Forum Awards are run by the Fleet Safety Forum
- a division of the national road safety charity Brake. The
prestigious and long-standing awards recognise the achievements of
those working to help reduce the number of costly, and in many
cases fatal, road crashes involving at-work drivers.
For the 'Safe Vehicles' award, judges are looking for the
organisation that has implemented the most effective maintenance
procedures and technology to improve the safety of its vehicles. In
its submission for the award, CitySprint was able to clearly
demonstrate this by providing details of its bespoke IT system
called iFleet ,which enables CitySprint to automatically monitor
and check important information such as MOT expiry dates and
courier insurance documentation electronically to ensure that the
safety of its fleet. In addition, the system enables CitySprint to
communicate with its couriers and send them important information
such as insurance reminders and training information.
Kevin Wong, CitySprint's National Fleet Support Manager comments
"CitySprint's Fleet Department has benefited significantly from
iFleet as it has greatly reduced the risk of uninsured vehicles
without valid MOTs on the road due to the automation process. The
system is able to produce reports that identify couriers that are
in breach of any regulations which ultimately assists with cutting
down on insurance issues/claims".
CitySprint is committed to protecting the safety of its
couriers, clients and the general public and has developed and
implemented a comprehensive road safety programme which encompasses
a range of activities and initiatives. The programme ensures that
its fleet is managed in the safest way possible and that the most
effective road safety initiatives are researched, implemented,
reviewed and updated, in order to ensure the safety of its
couriers, clients and the general public at all times - the
implementation of iFleet is yet further testament to this.
CitySprint's overall Road Safety programme was recognised last
year when CitySprint was crowned winner of the 'Road Risk Manager
of the Year' award in the Fleet Safety Forum Awards for
Excellence.
The winners of the 2011 awards will be announced at an awards
ceremony on 9th June at Alton Towers in Staffordshire.
