A fun-filled family day is set to be held at a city leisure
centre with visits from some high profile guests.
Coventry Sports Foundation is set to host its popular annual
Summer Fete at the Xcel Leisure Centre in Canley on Sunday, June 12
and among those in attendance will be children's television stars
Fireman Sam, Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy.
The event has been organised by Coventry Sports Foundation in
partnership with the Rotary Club of Coventry Jubilee and will raise
money for Help for Heroes and the children's cancer ward at the
University Hospital, in Coventry.
As well as the chance to meet Fireman Sam, Iggle Piggle and Upsy
Daisy, visitors can take advantage of a wide range of activities on
the day including craft shows, horse riding, bouncy castles and
go-karts.
Mark Cooke, events and hospitality manager for Coventry Sports
Foundation, said: "Our Summer Fete has always proved extremely
popular and a huge hit with adults and children of all ages.
"Yet again this year, we have a huge variety of entertainment
and activities available and we would urge as many people as
possible to come along and enjoy the atmosphere.
"It really is a great value day out and we are sure everyone who
attends will thoroughly enjoy themselves!"
Face painting, refreshments and giant hamster balls will also
form part of what promises to be an exciting event for all of the
family.
A raffle will also be held on the day with prizes, including
I-pod Shuffles, Lifestyles Health and Fitness membership for two, a
signed CCFC football and a family carvery meal for four. Raffle
tickets are priced at 50p and are available from the centre's
reception.
The fete will begin at 11am and run until 4pm. Visitors are able
to pay on the day with entry priced at just £1 for adults and
