Wells McFarlane, a leading firm of East Midlands Chartered Surveyors, has added to its dynamic team with the appointment of former Lutterworth student Abigail Wood, who by taking on the role of Accounts Assistant with the firm, has taken the first step on the ladder towards her dream career of becoming a chartered accountant.

Abigail who is from Lutterworth, was educated at Thomas Estley Community College in Broughton Astley and then Lutterworth College to Sixth Form, has always wanted to be an accountant and is currently studying for her AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting.

"I was thrilled to be offered the position with Wells McFarlane," said Abigail, "It is a brilliant opportunity to progress my career, and to be able to do that in my home town when jobs for young people are so scarce is fantastic."

Wells McFarlane director, Andrew McFarlane Holt commented: "When we relocated to the town we made a conscious decision, where possible, to employ and train local people. As a relatively young and growing company, we feel this philosophy is an essential part of our corporate social responsibility," he continued. "Abigail clearly demonstrated that she is a committed and competent young person and also a hard worker having worked part-time at both Waitrose in the town and Lutterworth Golf Club whilst completing her studies."

Abigail lives in Lutterworth with her family and when she is not 'number crunching' she enjoys hitting the high notes as a singer.
