Cadbury World and Land Rover have joined forces to offer a
special educational trip to schools that allows students to visit
both the chocolate attraction and the car manufacturer at a
discounted rate throughout 2011.
The trip, open to students aged between 7 - 18 years old,
combines visits to Bournville-based Cadbury World and the Land
Rover manufacturing plant in Solihull. The day covers a range of
subjects from Business Studies, Advertising and Marketing at
Cadbury World to ICT, Engineering and Maths at Land Rover.
Students from Baverstock School in Birmingham were among the
first to take part in the excursion which includes a talk on how
the Cadbury business has grown from a sole trader in the centre of
Birmingham to the brand it is today and a visit
to 'Advertising Avenue', where Cadbury's pioneering
advertising campaigns are showcased.
At Land Rover, students are given the opportunity to visit every
stage of the production process. The guided tour starts with
students seeing one of the largest sheet metal presses in the world
and ends with students discovering how its world leading
all-terrain technology is assembled and packaged into the final
vehicles.
Mrs Pentrucke, head of Year 9 at Baverstock School, said: "The
trip opened the eyes of the students to the range of jobs that are
available in both companies - from design through to marketing.
This has formed a valuable part of their extracurricular education
and was a very worthwhile day."
Colin Pitt, education and heritage centre manager at Cadbury
World, said: "We're really pleased to be working with Land Rover to
offer this unique educational experience to schools at a discounted
rate. We not only focus on Cadbury World and Land Rover, but also
discuss the wider issues surrounding both industries, making the
day interesting and informative for all."
The total cost per visit to both Cadbury World and Land Rover is
£495 for a maximum of 28 students plus three teachers. To
book, and for further information, please call Colin Pitt on 0121
