Cannock-based forklift truck firm, Briggs Equipment has invested
£5.5 million in its short-term rental (STR) fleet. The
investment is part of a £20 million transition plan to supply
the very latest hire equipment to customers across the UK.
The 450 new Yale machines being purchased this year will
increase the total number of Yale machines to over 900 giving an
average age of less than 18 months and reflecting the latest
specifications.
Allan Parsons, Asset Manager of Briggs Equipment, explained: "We
have made a huge step in our transition plan to supply the most
efficient and reliable products. We want to be totally committed to
providing our customers with cost effective, short-term solutions
who want to rent from as little as one day or up to one year.
"STR fleets are usually made up of very old equipment which come
with high maintenance and repair costs. Our machines are virtually
new which will see fewer breakdowns and will keep service costs to
a minimum.
"STR users often have difficulty in finding the right truck to
fit their specific operation; which can pose a real threat to
health and safety. With a wide variety of modifications available
on our machines, we can provide flexible short-term solutions to
fit many different applications."
Currently, Briggs's STR fleet is 30 per cent Yale and in the
next six months it hopes to increase this to 55 per cent making a
total of 1,200 Yale machines in the STR fleet.
