While this time next year the Olympics torch will be relayed in
the country for the grand opening of the worldwide sporting event,
a different kind of torch is travelling across the country this
year.
Staff at Dains chartered accountants and business advisers are
gearing up for their relay of the "Not-the-Olympics" torch. The
event, organised by the UK200Group to raise funds for Alzheimer's
Society has attracted over 30 professional firms of chartered
accountants and lawyers around the country to take part.
Kicking off in Perth, Scotland last month, the torch will
be relayed to its' final destination of the Olympic Village, London
in November.
Dains in the Community representative Mike Castree says, "Our
relay has a twist on the original theme in that the torch can be
relayed via any mode of transportation except a modern car as we
hopefully raise a substantial amount of money for Alzheimer's
Society."
"We've chosen them as the benefactor as we like to support
charities that are important to our employees and clients. We also
feel that they will benefit from the boost of funds in these
difficult times, to continue their valuable research into effective
treatments for dementia."
Dains' leg of the relay will start off on Saturday, 25th June
from their Derby office. With their theme of "The Suited Suits",
Dains partners and other staff members will carry the torch to each
of their offices in Burton, Rugeley, Lichfield and Fort Dunlop,
Birmingham.
These charitable accountants will be walking and cycling dressed
in a variety of themed suits including romper suits, cabaret suits
and wet suits.
Mr Castree concluded "I would like to thank all of the staff for
participating and of course, many thanks to everyone who has
donated generously". To make a donation please visit our'Just
Giving' page at www.justgiving.com/dainsinthecommunityUK200."
