Yan Evans, of Bilton, Rugby, has joined sustainable energy technology business ENER-G as group business development director.

Yan (aged 43) joins the international ENER-G group, which is based in Studley and Greater Manchester, from Baxi's commercial division, where he was technical director with responsibility for the market-leading Potterton Commercial and Andrews Water Heater brands.

He will report to group managing director Derek Duffill on a wide-ranging remit to drive ongoing growth that has seen turnover reach £130m in the current financial year - up from £97m in the previous period.

His achievements at Baxi included helping to establish the commercial division in 2007 and developing the company's combined heat and power (CHP) business in the UK, having established Baxi Technologies UK in 2003. He also headed up the development of Baxi's commercial product and services portfolio, which embraced renewable technologies such as solar thermal and heat pumps.

Yan held senior roles within GEC Alstom, Volvo Aero Corporation and Advantica Technologies. He has vast experience of large gas turbine, micro-turbine and reciprocating engine based power generation and CHP solutions

He is a chartered engineer, registered in both the UK and Europe, and is a member of Institute of Engineering and Technology, the Energy Institute, the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers and The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers.

Yan has a degree in electromechanical engineering and almost 20 years' experience of working in the power generation, energy and building services sectors. He has authored many articles and continuing professional development modules in national and international journals on the application of low and zero carbon technologies, and is a regular presenter and keynote speaker at clean tech industry conferences.

Commenting on Yan's appointment, Derek Duffill said: "Yan is a rare combination of a qualified professional engineer with almost 20 years' sales management and business development experience in the energy sector.

"He is a proven leader and an exceptional communicator, with sharp commercial acumen and deep technical knowledge across the sustainable energy sector. Our business has grown by 30 per cent year-on-year for the past ten years, with 47% of all sales driven by export. Yan's considerable talents are crucial in helping us to write ENER-G's continuing success story."

Yan added: "Having recently been named 3i Private Business of the Year in the National Business Awards, ENER-G is clearly among the brightest stars in the UK's clean tech sector. This is a fast growing global business with operations in 17 countries, a talented team and huge ambitions. Carbon and cost reduction is a critical challenge facing every organisation across the globe and I look forward to presenting ENER-G's  comprehensive range of  low and zero carbon solutions and helping managers to achieve outstanding savings. "

Originally from Aberdare, South Wales, Yan lives in Rugby with his wife Debbie and two young daughters Chloe and Evie.
