The rejuvenation of Tyseley is set to continue with the launch
of a new property assistance programme providing funding to new and
existing businesses in Tyseley, helping to safeguard and create
over 200 jobs.
Grant allocation of 50% of eligible costs up to a maximum of
£100,000 will be available to eligible businesses in the
Tyseley area. These grants are available through the Tyseley
Property Assistance Programme, to help businesses improve their
premises, access and infrastructure, helping to boost performance
and employment growth.
Supported through £1.1 million from the European Regional
Development Fund (ERDF) and with additional funding from Birmingham
City Council and significant local business investment in excess of
£900,000, the programme is part of a package of activities to
develop and improve the Birmingham area.
It also forms part of Birmingham City Council's wider aspiration
to develop Tyseley as an Environmental Enterprise District as part
of the Birmingham's Core Strategy.
Waheed Nazir, Director of Planning and Regeneration at
Birmingham City Council, said: "Tyseley remains a significant part
of the industrial and environment infrastructure of
Birmingham.
"Providing financial support to existing businesses, attracting
new ones and developing the environment for growth in an
environmentally sustainable way is crucial to the regeneration of
Tyseley and in turn Birmingham.
"It is only by investing in programmes such as this that we can
begin to achieve the aims of a Low Carbon Enterprise District
status for Tyseley. We look forward to working with local
businesses to deliver this programme."
Mark Foley, Director of European Programmes at Advantage West
Midlands stresses the importance of ERDF support to this area.
He said: "Through the ERDF programme £24 million of
support has been allocated to the Birmingham area and this
programme is just one example of how this money is being
invested".
"Through the development of key districts such as Tyseley, over
£900,000 of new investment will be attracted to this area
alone helping to lift the property market whilst attracting and
maintaining employment.
"This type of benefit and impact is being echoed throughout the
region as a direct result of the European funding investments being
made.'"
Managed by Birmingham City Council, the programme runs until
2015.
