Redditch's motor racing commercial property agent John Truslove
is Italy-bound with his eye on a flying start to his racing
season.
The 62-year-old is driving a BMW 1800Ti in the Touring Cars race
at the FIA Historic Formula One championship round at Monza from
Friday to Sunday, June 3-5.
He will be teaming up with Channel Islands-based businessman
Marcus Mahy in a three strong team prepared by Earlswood motorsport
preparation company Laranca Engineering Ltd.
Laranca boss Richard Shaw has three teams with two drivers each
entered in the prestigious 60 minute race, including former Team
Lotus and Arrows F1 driver Jackie Oliver.
John Truslove said: "Laranca have a very strong record in
preparing and entering cars in historic motor racing and with their
record we will probably be regarded as the number one team.
"However, the competition is undoubtedly going to be fierce and
we will have to be on our mettle to match the pace in what is a
very keenly contested category."
John Truslove's racing career in the historic category has seen
him compete extensively in Europe and South Africa, including two
appearances in the Grand Prix Historique de Monaco and races at
Pau, Dijon, Copenhagen, Jarama, Portimao, Chimay and Porto in cars
that have included a 1960 Elva DKW, a Lola Mark II in which he won
the British Formula Junior Championship in 2006 and the Brabham
BT-6 which he drove to win the Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix in
2007.
