Transforming waste with bespoke recycling facilities

Midlands-based temporary buildings company TransformaSpace has just installed additional storage space for national company Veolia. The new bespoke recycling facility has transformed their operations, saving Veolia both time and money.

Companies nationwide can save thousands simply by protecting products from the elements. When waste management providers Veolia identified the weather as a key threat to growth, they commissioned TransformaSpace to find a solution.

Veolia needed an outdoor storage space that could be operational within days, to protect their products immediately. TransformaSpace's experience with and reputation for creating fast-erected temporary storage facilities made them a natural choice for the task.

TransformaSpace Director, Tom Alldread, comments: "Veolia came to us for an outdoor covered storage facility for their East Midlands site. Their mixed paper and cardboard was being affected by the varying weather conditions we see in the UK."

The Veolia material recovery facility processes seven different waste products from domestic and industrial sites around the region. A free site visit was conducted and a variety of options proposed, resulting in the choice of a canopy with a ClearSpan roofing system.

John Kirk, Site Supervisor at Veolia sees the extra stoage as essential to running his operation successfully: "The high quality canopy keeps our products dry and has freed up extra storage capacity for us on site.

"Before we had the canopy, our paper and cardboard bales would get wet and loose materials would blow all over the site.  Now, we have dry products and our site is kept tidier- it saves us time and money".

Kirk also speaks highly of the TransformaSpace team; "The service I have received from TransformaSpace has been second to none. The friendly and professional team provided us a solution that was put up in one day."

Currently, in the UK, we generate over 80 million tonnes of waste from households, commerce and industry each year and this is set to increase going forward. The Government commitment to a zero waste economy will only increase demand for recycling.

Organisations will find that their waste management facilities are put under increasing pressure moving forward and need to plan for this now. Installing a temporary structure is an ideal way to increase capacity instantly.

As Alldread explains, "Our structures are fast becoming the number one choice to expand recycling facilities and storage space.

"Temporary structures are ideal for businesses on leased sites: They are quick to put up, fully relocatable and can be tailored to the company".
