Children from a Toton school are celebrating after their art
lessons were given a boost by Nottingham call centre Domestic and
General.
Staff at Banks Road Infant School approached Domestic &
General after budget cuts meant art supplies were becoming less
available.
Year two teacher Janice Clark says: "We are just a small school
and we were aware that certain areas of the curriculum, such as
art, were not as central as some other areas and materials were
beginning to run out without being replaced.
"We feel strongly that art and all creative expression is still
an area of great value to our children so we drew up a wish list of
art materials which we sent to Domestic & General asking for
help. We're really very grateful for its support and the
children are already enjoying working with their new art
supplies."
Thanks to Domestic & General's generosity, the school has
been able to buy 15 sets of watercolour palettes, marbling kits and
combs, modelling material, paper and pastel crayons.
Deborah Martin, site operations manager at Domestic &
General, said: "We're delighted to help out with the purchase of
art materials and I'm sure the children will have lots of fun using
them."
