The Prime Minister visited the Portmeirion Group factory in
Stoke on Trent on Thursday 28th April and met with Portmeirion
Group factory employees, while on a tour of the Midlands and
surrounding region.
The Rt Hon David Cameron was shown around the Portmeirion Group
factory by Lawrence Bryan, CEO of Portmeirion and Dick Steele,
Non-Executive Chairman.
During his visit the Prime Minister met a group of pottery
decorators and was given a tour of the factory and the showroom.
The Prime Minister was also shown key pottery designs including the
Royal Worcester commemorative collection which celebrates the
wedding of HRH Prince William and Miss Catherine
Middleton.
Speaking from Portmeirion Group factory, The Rt Hon David
Cameron said: "I was delighted to meet with Portmeirion Group
today. The Potteries remain hugely important to the UK
manufacturing sector; it is vital we continue to invest in the
skills and workforce to ensure that the British pottery industry
continues to thrive."
Commenting on the visit, Lawrence Bryan said: "It was a great
honour that the Prime Minister was able to take the time to visit
us in Stoke on Trent today. We are greatly appreciative of
his support for Portmeirion Group and the Potteries as a
whole."
