Organisers of the 2011 Midlands Family Business Awards have
confirmed Perween Warsi CBE, the founder and chief executive of
Derby-based S & A Foods, is to be on the Awards' independent
panel of judges.
S & A Foods is one of the UK's most successful independent
food companies, supplying millions of chilled meals each week and
employing more than 600 people and Mrs Warsi will lead the judging
panel for the Awards' Fastest Growing Family Business category,
sponsored by Leicester-based ProspectIP.
Also recently confirmed is Parveen Mehta, Director of
Birmingham-based Minor Weir Willis Limited (MWW), who will be lead
judge of the Barclays-sponsored International Markets category.
Mark Samworth of Samworth Brothers will lead the panel judging
the headline Midlands Family Business of the Year Award, sponsored
by accountants Smith Cooper.
Other judges across the Awards' ten categories include Tim
Storer, MD of Pukka Pies, Nick Wheeler, founder of Charles
Tyrwhitt, Tim John Horrell, MD of Dodson & Horrell, Kavita
Oberoi, of Oberoi Consulting and Octavian Security, author Peter
Leach, Gwenllian Williams, Ron Lynch of the Institute of Directors,
Grant Gordon, director general of the Institute of Family Business,
Colin Slater MBE, Dhiren Katwa and Andy Coyne.
The Midlands Family Business Awards is the region's only
initiative to recognise the work and achievements of family
businesses and owners. Underwritten by Nottingham insurance and
financial advisory firm The Wilson Organisation, they are a
charitable, not-for-profit initiative, with beneficiaries being The
Children's Society, The Willow Foundation and The Venture
Foundation.
Additional category sponsors include Aviva, Key Personnel,
Positive Outcomes, PwC, Roythornes Solicitors and Unum Ltd.
