The new home for Coventry University's Faculty of Engineering
and Computing takes a significant leap forward this week with the
completion of the main structure of the new £55m
development.
The state-of-the art building, which was designed by Arup
Associates, is being built by Vinci Construction and is part of the
University's overall £160m redevelopment plan for the city
centre based campus.
It will bring under one roof a range of imaginative learning
spaces, laboratories, workshops and lecture theatres.
The Lord Mayor of Coventry, Councillor Brian Kelsey, will be the
guest of honour on Thursday 12 May at the topping out ceremony and
will be getting a bird's eye view of the city from the top of the
six storey building.
As well as the Lord Mayor, there will be representatives from
all the key parties in attendance as well as students of the
University who will eventually occupy the building.
The Engineering and Computing building will be completed by the
summer of 2012 in time for the start of the 2012/13 university
year.
