MP for Rugby, Mark Pawsey has been given a guided tour of a
nationally award winning Rugby housing development to witness
first-hand the high quality houses being built by
Loughborough-based housebuilder, William Davis Homes Ltd.
Mr Pawsey was welcomed to Cawston Fields, Rugby, by William
Davis' managing director, Guy Higgins; NHBC's regional director for
Wales and the West of England, Peter Watton and site manager Tony
Armson, the treble consecutive UK Supreme Award winner and reigning
national champion of the NHBC (National House Building Council)
Pride in the Job Awards.
The Pride in the Job Awards have been fundamental in raising
house building standards for new-home buyers for 30 years by
recognising site managers who demonstrate exceptional consistency
and professionalism. The guided tour was organised to demonstrate
to Mr Pawsey the outstanding quality of new homes being built under
Tony's leadership and how this has been achieved despite the
housing industry facing extreme post-recession pressures.
Mark Pawsey MP said: "I looked at some fantastic homes for first
time buyers. Rugby has a very good attitude to new house
building."
Guy Higgins, managing director of William Davis Homes added: "We
are delighted that Mr Pawsey has visited our site in Rugby. He is
clearly very well informed on housing and planning issues, both in
Rugby and nationally. It is great to see the local MP taking such
an interest in the work of NHBC. This is an outstanding personal
accolade for Tony, who is always the first to ensure the whole team
is recognised for their efforts in helping towards this fantastic
achievement."
Cawston Fields was first judged by NHBC to be a Pride in the Job
national winner in the medium builder category in July 2009, out of
almost 13,000 entries from across the UK, following previous
successes at regional level. The judges this year commented that
Tony had consistently increased the standard of his site, and that
the internal finishes are sharp and crisp, proving that care and
attention has truly been observed. His team clearly pulls together
to achieve continued success.
Peter Watton, NHBC regional director concluded: "Despite the
challenging economic period which still surrounds the industry,
builders such as Tony Armson maintain exceptional standards and are
always looking to improve. Tony's drive to be the best directly
translates in the provision of top quality houses by William Davis
Homes, making sure that homeowners consistently get the best
end-product possible.
"For 30 years, Pride in the Job has been recognising and
rewarding site managers who consistently build to high standards.
Managing a winning site takes great technical ability, dedication,
determination and attention to detail. Only site managers
exhibiting these skills succeed."
Cawston Fields contains a mixture of four and five bedroom
detached homes on a friendly and thriving development, set on the
edge of the market town of Rugby. It is ideally located for easy
access to the motorway network, and has convenient train links to
London and Birmingham.
