Warehouse and distribution specialist Chalcroft Construction has
completed work on the third phase of a project for Macmillan
Distribution.
Chalcroft finished work on a new 5,600m² high bay warehouse
at Macmillan's Swansea site, as part of a £2.7m, 37-week
project in April.
Work to complete the new warehouse included the demolition of
the existing unit, installation of new concrete piles, ground
beams, pile caps, suspended floor slab, steel work, cladding,
sprinklers, LPG heating system and electrical works.
Associated drainage and external works were also carried out on
the site, which achieved a very good assessment under the BREEAM
rating.
This third project follows the construction of a new
140,000ft² warehouse and office facility, and re-cladding the
remaining buildings including extensive strengthening works to the
steel frame.
Scott Wilson, operations director from Chalcroft, commented:
"Quality and service have always been the driving force of our
business and our aim to build long-term relationships with clients
and consultants."
Macmillan Distribution (MDL) provides a distribution service for
the Macmillan Publishing Group, as well as distribution services to
more than 40 third-party publishers.
Kevin Oram, from MDL, commented: "This project is the next stage
of our ongoing plan to expand our ability to provide first-rate
distribution to new clients, as well as efficiently handling the
growth of our current publishers. We have found Chalcroft's
knowledge of the sector and the way we work an asset to help us
make sure the project is completed without disruption to our
customers."
