Birmingham-based Gallan Parking has reached a landmark in going
green by investing £100,000 in solar-powered pay and display
machines.
The rapidly expanding car park operator has reinforced its
commitment to the environment by installing the Strada Rapide
terminals and back-office systems from world leading manufacturer
Parkeon to serve its 2,500 nationwide parking spaces.
The terminals have made a major reduction to the company's
energy costs and carbon footprint by making use of daylight to
maintain their batteries and avoiding the need for underground
cabling.
Gallan Parking, launched in 2009 as part of Birmingham property
specialists Gallan Group, also opted for the machines so that they
could be moved to different locations as necessary and be 95 per
cent recycled at the end of their working lives.
The company has installed the terminals at all its parking
facilities within an area extending from Sheffield to Worthing and
Norwich to Stafford.
Phillip Grant, Managing Director, said: "We pride ourselves in
delivering innovative and cost-effective parking solutions for our
operating partners, which includes enhancing and protecting the
environment as demonstrated by this major investment.
"We also saw the potential in these terminals for maximising
revenues and providing unrivalled customer care as we actively seek
to transform derelict and vacant land to high quality car parks for
purchase, lease or full service management.
He added: "The aesthetic appeal of the machines, all supplied in
our green Gallon livery, have also made our sites even more
attractive and reassuring to drivers."
Danny Hassett, Parkeon's Parking Director UK/Ireland, said: "We
are delighted to be providing Gallan with reliable terminals and
systems that will support this innovative and dynamic company's
ambitions."
A member of the British Parking Association and holder of a Park
Mark safer parking award from Staffordshire Police, Gallan Parking
has launched more than 400 spaces in Birmingham City Centre in the
past six months alone.
Parkeon is a key player in global parking and transport
management solutions. With a 35-year history in the sector, the
company is at the forefront of innovation and has a presence in 50
countries and 3,000 cities worldwide.
