Fusion, the Coventry-based contact centre business, has today
donated £8,000 to President Kennedy Community School and
College. The money will help to build a new Business and Technology
Centre, to allow the school to offer additional vocational
qualifications for pupils, such as Business Studies and Information
and Communication Technologies.
More than 1,400 students will use the new centre, with an
opportunity for the facilities to be accessed by the wider local
community. The centre aims to enrich vocational experiences and the
Fusion donation will go towards the conversion, decoration and
equipment costs for the facility.
Peter Thomas, Head Teacher at President Kennedy Community School
and College, commented: "Everyone at President Kennedy would like
to thank Fusion for the fantastic donation. We have wanted to build
a new Business and Technology Centre at President Kennedy for some
time, to help our students to get the qualifications that they need
to build a successful future career. Spending in the public sector
has been squeezed - so to have received such a generous donation
from Fusion means that we are now able to start work on the project
which really will be invaluable to our students."
Andy Talbot, Site Manager at Fusion, commented: "We are
delighted to be able to support President Kennedy School and
College with this donation and are looking forward to seeing the
finished centre. Having worked closely with the school for the last
six months it is very clear to us how important the school is - to
not only the students and teachers but also to the local community
as a whole."
President Kennedy School is currently in partnership with Fusion
Coventry in a local CSR venture arranged by the Coventry branch of
Business in the Community. The three year partnership will see the
company support the school in a number of ways - from providing
reading support and business skills guidance, to Fusion staff
volunteering to help create an "African concept garden".
